Jabiru aircraft are of composite construction that incorporates aircraft grade materials and all A/N hardware. The Jabiru philosophy is to have an aircraft that is functional, rugged and yet simple to maintain. Although Jabiru USA Sport Aircraft offers several yearly engine classes, any A&P, IA or LSRM can maintain and inspect Jabiru aircraft and Jabiru aircraft engines without the need for special tools or expensive training and certifications.

The J170-SP
This aircraft uses the extremely economical 4 cylinder, 85 hp engine. This light yet stable aircraft uses the same landing gear, wing and empennage as the 4 seat J430 with much higher gross weight. With stability and flight characteristics similar to certificated trainers, combined with economy and extreme ruggedness, this aircraft is ideal for flight schools as well as personal ownership. To date, there are a number of J170s in Australian flight schools with over 8,000 logged hours.

The J230-SP AND J250-SP
With the exception of the wing, the J230-SP and J250-SP aircraft are identical and both are powered by the 6-cylinder, 120hp engine. The J230-SP has a slightly longer wing with a narrower wing cord and winglets. This wing is extremely efficient, particularly at higher altitudes. The J250-SP has a “fatter” wing with slightly more wing area and therefore has slightly higher lift characteristics. This plane will lift off about 150 feet sooner but the true airspeed at altitude will be slightly less then the J230-SP. These aircraft are extremely rugged as they share the same airframe and landing gear as the 4 place J430 and J450 which have gross weights of 1540lbs. In the case of the J230-SP and J250-SP, the rear seat does not exist; therefore these aircraft have cavernous luggage areas and a third door accessing this very useable space. Jabiru aircraft rival other light sport aircraft as well as many certificated aircraft for stability and predictable safe flight characteristics. They are terrific personal cross country cruisers as well as rugged, easy to maintain club or flight school aircraft.
