| About Jabiru Engines |
Jabiru Aircraft Engines are horizontally opposed 4 and 6, cylinder engines. Many of the major components are machined from billet 6061T6 Aluminum and 4130 Chromium-Molybdenum Steel. These engines are air / oil cooled and direct drive. They incorporate a complete stainless steel exhaust system, dual solid-state magnetos, built in alternator and altitude compensating carburetor. Engineered to use many time proven “off the shelf” parts keeps the maintenance simple with minimal cost. All these features combine to be a very reliable package with great power to weight ratios. With a 2000-hour time before major overhaul, costing approximately $5,000 for the 2200cc 85hp 4-cylinder engine and $7,000 for the 3300cc 120hp 6-cylinder engine, it is easy to understand why these engines have become the choice for many SLSA and experimental aircraft kit manufacturers.
